During the WTF Executive Council Meeting held in Aruba this week, during the 3rd World Parataekwondo Championships and the World Cup event, 3 new member nations were welcomed into the continuously growing Taekwondo Family. Curaçao, Sierra Leone and South Sudan are now the newest member national associations, increasing the WTF members number to 204.
The World Taekwondo Federation is one of the biggest Sports Federations, right behind Volleyball (220), Table Tennis (217), FIFA (209) and now, overtaking Swimming (202) or Judo (200).
This is a very important status to reinforce Taekwondo´s goal of remaining an Olympic Sport.
It is also important to mention that the 2011 World Taekwondo Championships had 150 member nations participating, three times bigger than Judo or other Olympic contact sports.
